Puri Puri Squad Interviews: Kate Key
We’ve been chatting to Kate Key, one of the loveliest members of our Puri Puri Squad! Let’s get right to it as we can’t wait to hear her answers.
When did you start watching anime, and what was your first anime?
I began watching anime when I was around 7, with things like Saint Seiya, Dragon Ball, Doraemon, and Captain Tsubasa. But as a proper otaku, I started when I was 13 years old with what is still my all-time favorite anime, Inuyasha!
Is your love of anime how you got into cosplay?
Well, more or less! One day while I was watching Inuyasha and other anime, I saw some REAL people with the same look as my favorite characters!
I was fascinated, and I started looking for more. I found out about conventions and the cosplay world! I thought a lot about it, and finally, I asked my mum to help me with Kakashi (from Naruto) costume.

This was my first real cosplay, as a female Kakashi, complete Anbu mask made out of cardboard and decorated with marker pen!
Are you into video games, and if so, which is your favorite?
A lot! As with anime, videogames are my passion! My favorite saga is The Legend of Zelda, but I love souls games such as Bloodborne and Darksouls! I’m all about blood and big strange bosses.
My all-time favorite game is The Legend of Zelda Phantom Hourglass because it was my first game that I played as a hardcore gamer. I liked it so much that I was trying out speedruns and making my own records in the game before I knew it.
Do you have any pets?
Sadly not now. I used to have a bunny and a squirrel. I live near the countryside, and sometimes my dad would appear with a snake or another strange animal that he had found injured, asking me to help save it. I felt like a little Nurse Joy!
